Anna Paula's Brigadeiro

Anna Paula's Brigadeiro

A Fantastic Touch on Brazilian Cuisine

Ingredients:

  • 1 can (14 oz / 397g) sweetened condensed milk
  • 4 tablespoons CC cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Chocolate sprinkles or granulated chocolate for coating
  • Butter or cooking spray (for greasing hands)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Gather all your ingredients and line them up on your kitchen counter.

  2. Mix Ingredients: In a medium-sized non-stick saucepan, combine the sweetened condensed milk, cocoa powder, and butter.

  3. Cook the Mixture: Place the saucepan over medium-low heat. Stir the mixture constantly using a wooden spoon or spatula to prevent sticking. Keep stirring for about 10-15 minutes or until the mixture thickens and starts pulling away from the sides of the pan. It should have a consistency similar to thick pudding or soft fudge.

  4. Cool the Mixture: Remove the saucepan from the heat and transfer the mixture to a greased plate or bowl. Allow it to cool to room temperature for approximately 30-45 minutes. You can speed up this process by placing it in the refrigerator for about 15-20 minutes.

  5. Prepare Coating: While the mixture is cooling, pour chocolate sprinkles or granulated chocolate into a small bowl.

  6. Shape Brigadeiros: Grease your hands lightly with butter or cooking spray. Take small portions of the cooled mixture and roll them between your palms to create small balls, each about 1 inch in diameter.

  7. Coat Brigadeiros: Roll each ball in the chocolate sprinkles or granulated chocolate until they're evenly coated.

  8. Presenting the Brigadeiros: Place the finished brigadeiros in small paper cups or onto a serving plate.

  9. Chill Brigadeiros: Refrigerate the brigadeiros for at least 1 hour before serving. This chilling time helps the brigadeiros set and hold their shape better.

Remember to store any leftover brigadeiros in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Enjoy making and indulging in these delightful Brazilian treats!
