Quick and Easy Microwave Chocolate Mug Cake
Note: The cooking time may vary depending on the wattage of your microwave. If you're unsure, start with 70 seconds and increase the time in 10-second intervals until the cake is set but moist. Don't overcook it as the cake can become dry.
Ingredients:
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- A pinch of salt
- 3 tablespoons milk (any type of milk you prefer)
- 1 tablespoon canola oil (or melted butter)
- 1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon chocolate chips or your favorite flavor baking chips
Instructions:
- Lightly coat the bottom of a microwave-safe mug or coffee cup with cooking spray.
- In the mug, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Mix well.
- Add the milk, canola oil (or melted butter), and vanilla extract to the mug. Stir until you have a smooth batter, making sure to scrape the bottom of the mug to incorporate all the ingredients.
- Optionally, mix in the chocolate chips or simply sprinkle them on top.
- Place the mug in the microwave and cook on high for 70-90 seconds, or until the cake is just set. It should still be slightly shiny on top. (Microwave power may vary, so adjust the cooking time accordingly, if needed).
- Allow the mug cake to rest in the microwave for 1 minute before taking it out.
- Grab a spoon and enjoy your delicious homemade chocolate mug cake!
